Thursday evening at 8:00 pm I suffered a stroke and was hospitalized. I am back home trying to recuperate. My entire left side is without any feeling and nearly non non functional. Typing is a real chore with only one hand.

Doctors say I should recover completely but gave me no timetable for that. I was doing so well with my battle with cancer and have been feeling pretty good lately and now I have to deal with this. I actually feel like I was run over with a very large truck.

Hang in there my friend, I hope you get better soon. Just relax and take it easy for as long as you like, surround yourself with loved ones and things that contribute to your mental peace.

Ken,

Having only 1 hand working means that you'll need to alternate between typing and Bud Light. I hope your recovery is quick and that you regain full use of your left side.

I've decided your problems are so much more bothersome than mine that I'll just say I feel better, because you've shown me things could be worse. That doesn't help you a bit, but it makes me feel better; so for whatever comfort it is your problem is helping another human being. I wish you the quickest recovery possible.

Ken:

I can tell you it is possible. From January to March of this year I had a couple of strokes and a couple of heart attacks. The strokes were easy to know when but the silent heart attacks dont leave a date on the tape when you are checked. Stopped smoking 100 non filter cigaretes a day and went on a strict diet and gained 25 pounds.

I am all back to normal except for a small blind spot in my left eye which will never come back which is no problem. The worst part for me was some of the medicines . They actually were much more difficult than the physical part. You will get there and make the biggest and craziest turning of your life soon. Keep going but dont over do.

The only thing to be worried about is old age, no escape for that and it starts the day you are born.

Ken,
It's good to hear that the doctors believe that you will have a full recovery. This is very, very good news and hopefully just means that your illness is just a temporary inconvenience at worse.

By the way, I was run over by truck. It was a small pickup truck. I know the feeling. I also fully recovered! :)

Best wishes...Jeff

Ken,
I am sorry that you are having to deal with this, on top of the other problems you have been having. Wouldn't it be easier if life was fair? But at our age, we know it isn't. We just have to continue doing the best we can with the hand we are dealt.

We will keep you in our prayers; like you I am encouraged that the Doctors anticipate a full recovery. Judging by the experience of a very good friend of mine who had a stroke and lay alone for 4 days before being found, and who has had a very remarkable recovery, it is possible.

Best wishes,
Warren
