I am planing in tracing the template and cutting it out of the piece of wood under it. The wood is Rift Sawn, I then used the bandsaw and turned it into a bookmatch to get my width. Total Size 12" by 12".

I need to attach it to the Alter in the background. The side of the alter is Oak Plywood. I am concerned about wood movement of the design since it's 12" x 12". I could just glue it to in a single line vertically but how would I keep it from lifting on the sides? The thickness is around 1/4" so I do not see how I could use a screw from the back because there would not be much wood for the screen to make contact with.

I also attached a picture of the whole altar.

Your thoughs will be appreciated.

It's thin, it's rift sawn, you might get lucky and not get much movement. You want to put it on plywood though and you know that plywood and the applied piecd will not move the same.

I'd be very tempted to try double back tape under the applique with the idea that the tape itself may give as much as the applique would move and if it didn't work I still haven't ruined the piece for other options.
