About 3-1/2" tall
Khaya
Ebony
22kt Gold

I turned this box about two years ago and I forget what finish I used.

Khaya or Africian Mahogany turns and finishes well. After 2 year the lid still fits the same as when it was new, so I'd say it it quite stable.

This is for http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=39211

Wow!

Thanks for the positive feedback guys.

Jim: Now that you mention it, it does look Egyptian. Never saw that before.

Joash: I've seen your work before, I was blown away when I found out you where 15. Keep up the great work.

Chris: I'm always asked if it is real gold, Yes it is real 22kt gold. It is the same material that is used on police cars and firetrucks. It's basicly Hi-Tech Gold leaf. The material comes in rolls and comes with the adhesive and the release sheet already sandwiched. You just cut and apply. Sign Shops use this material.

Ya gotta find a new place to get your film processed. Two years seems a bit slow.

But worth the wait. Looks great. Thanks.

Nice piece Ron. Did you notice a strong chemical odor when turning the wood?

Luckily no.

I know exotic woods are fumigated and I wear a air powered helmet with a filtration system.

Thanks!
