Just saw that amazon had the 3/4 hp Powermatic benchtop mortiser for $219 after rebate and november $50 off $300. I think that is almost half price from what I have seen.

Doh, they must've noticed. It was unavailable when I looked.

Bummer, yea I have my confirmation and it was $269, and I printed out a $50 mail in rebate. I hope amazon will honor it!

When I looked for it on Amazon and the bench top model wasn't even listed. Have they removed it altogether?

Keep an eye on it. The price comes and goes and so does the availability. I got mine a few weeks ago but its still sitting in the box. Its a great deal.

Agreed - keep your eye on it. After missing out on it a few weeks back I was able to order one on Friday night.

Rob, was it the $219 price a few weeks ago. Do they only get a few in at a time, then sell out. You think they would increase the price a little. The cheapest price I found elsewhere was $469.

Yeah, I got the $219 after rebates, etc. I don't know why Amazon does the things they do. All I know is that you gotta keep your eye on the ball with them.

Score! Not quite $219, but right around $250 after Dec $50 off and rebate. Not bad considering I would've paid around $100 more if I had actually made it to the show a couple months ago. I guess being too busy to do fun things has an upside after all  . Off to find threads about chisels.

That's why they do what they do. They want you to check them out every day.;)

One of the things you need to remember about Amazon is that their software is very, very sophisticated and will very often offer to individuals tantalizing things that "go away" very quickly if you don't bite. It's kinda like their "Gold Box" specials, but not as obvious. They know what you look at and can discern what items you may be interested in...and then offer them at an incredible price (especially after the other special deals), not only in hope of selling you that item, but also pull-through sales that actually have margin. They may be using advertising/marketing co-op dollars for these deals, too...and those dollars are limited.

It was up to $308 with rebate when I checked. I'd love to have one, but I don't have the $$$ right now.
