Corner posts for small bed?

Hi,
A family has asked me to build a small bed for them with 5' to 6' corner posts. It's a childs bed that will use a crib mattress. I am looking for suggestions on how to construct the corner posts. I thought about using 4X4 posts and tapering them from the side boards on up. Any thoughts? Photos?

The best think you can do is to give us a picture of what you are planning.

Maybe get online and find a similar piece...........

4 x 4 posts seem pretty heavy duty for a child sized bed. Maybe scale it down a bit and use something smaller. If you look in the stores at canopy beds their corner posts are much smaller than 4 x 4.

Seems to me the 4x4's would be too stout. Dick B.
