Thanks Travis, Dario, Mark and others for the push in the right direction. The mustard monster is all vacuumed up! I plumbed it up with copper tubing and the pump that Joe Tonich turned me on to works great! I put the pump up in the attic and it is turned on and off by the switch on the wall! It's amazing how much holding power it has. You wouldn't think it would hold like it does especially when i could hold my finger over the 1/2' tubing and the suction felt so minimal . The drum chuck is a Oneway and it is of the quality you would expect from them! I bought all the goody's from Packard just so I could get they're catalog! I hear there's a celebrity of some sorts in it! Plus they had the best price. Yahoo!!

Very nice setup, Kurt! You'll enjoy having the vacuum available at the lathe.

BTW, can you easily reach that switch with one hand on whatever you are trying to mount on the drum? It's hard to tell from the perspective of the picture.

So that's where my modeling fee went to - low prices. Sheesh!

Looks great Kurt. But you may want to consider relocating the gauge to the the vicinity of the headstock. That's where mine is and I've found that it's very handy to have it there so I can keep an eye on the gauge while working a piece, the wonky ones in particular. I've been able to abort numerous launches simply as a result of noticing a pressure drop.

Having the control valve near the gauge is also kinda nice.

Then there is the matter of filters.

As Travis told me a while back - "a whole new abyss".

Thanks Guys! Andy, The filters are in the attic with the pump. It came all as one unit filters and all. I will also be putting on end of the line to prevent chips and dust from being sucked up. maybe just a foam filter or something. I'll take your advice on relocating the gauge closer to the headstock! I didn't think of that. Thanks Travis and Dario to the links to the additional toys! I guess thats why they call it the black hole!:D I guess it will never be over.
