My turn on a couple of lamps... first one just trying something different... spalted Poplar... second one is, IMO, a very neat chunk of Black Cherry. God sure done good on that wood...:)

Mark,
Those are both great amps. May I ask where you get your refillable lamps. I have been looking high and low and can't find a source.

Don, I got those a long time ago from some place Jim Ketron put me onto. I don't think they even carry them any more. So I don't have a supplier for those any more and have stocked up on the disposables.

Mark,
May I ask where you get your refillable lamps.

Craft Supplies http://www.woodturnerscatalog.com has them as well as Packard Woodworks.

You get a bulk discount if you order 5 or more sets of 4 from CS. Nice folks to deal with, too!

Mark,

LOVE the black cherry... is the black stripe a bark inclusion? Neat feature!

That is correct... bark inclusion from a small crotch.

THose are really beautiful... you did a grand job! got a question though... what did you use on the first one to get into the corner where the inside dome meets the wall... I am assuming that is all one piece!!! Anyway, nice job!

Yes, it's one piece. I just worked into the corner with my 3/8" gouge. This wood cut very easy and fairly clean, so it worked out pretty good.

Mark, they both look great but since we seem to be voting for a favorite, I pick No. 1, the NE:)

Awright Mark!! Beautiful!

So, now you, Dennis and me need to get together so I can learn to make one of them things.
