It seems to be a day more special each year. I will attend a Birthday luncheon with the Morris Area Marines at Rods Steakhouse in Madison, NJ - a long standing tradition. And I look forward to each year because I am able to sit and chat with men who served at Iwo (Greeley Wells, one year - he carried the first flag up the hill), Guadalcanal, Tarawa and the Chosin Reservoir among so many other places - you have to just sit in awe of these men. More and more it is my Vietnam era peer group, as these older heroes pass on - but now we have added names of other places that are only vaguely familiar to me - but are the danger spots none-the-less. And our young men and women continue carry on the tradition of being just ordinary people who perform extraordinary service - and I am proud of them.
