http://www.sawmillcreek.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=49822&stc=1&d=1163110910 The shop expansion project has finally started. My present shop is in a 24' x 24' garadge. A partition down the center gives me a 12' x 24' shop.
Am adding on a 16' x 24' addition which will have a partition at the 14' mark. The partition in the old shop will be removed giving me a 24' x 24' shop. The new addition will give us a 14' x 24' garadge and a 10' X 24' finishing room/ office. The existing garadge door will remain and a new door will be in line with the old one. Excivation was done tuesday, forming done yesterday and concrete pored this AM. Will be 2 or 3 weeks before the contractor will start building. I am doing all interior work myself. http://www.sawmillcreek.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=49821&stc=1&d=1163110910

David,

Cool!!!! Nothing like gettin' more room. I sure wish I had a finishing room. It would be so nice to be able to keep doing other things when finishing is going on.

A seperate finishing room-----that is a really smart move.

I have a finished cabinet that has just been sitting there a couple of weeks because I have not wanted to put up a temporary spray booth and then figure out where to store it out of the way when I am finished.

It will not be long before you will be in fat city. Will be watching for updates as it progresses.

Forgot to mention, the addition will have 10' sidewalls and atic rafters so I will have storage area above.

David,

Looks like this will be a fun and rewarding project. I wish I could add more space, but I'm on a small corner lot and I'm up against setbacks on all sides. Having a separate office/finishing room is a good idea.

Make sure you tell your truss supplier that you intend to use the attic for storage and how much weight will be involved. It will most certainly make a difference in the truss design.

Best of luck. Please keep posting as the project matures!

Very nice Dave! Hope you have unseasonable warm weather during the outdoor phase of building.
