tools. I have collected and use several chisels, spindle gouge, tenon saw, etc. The cast steel seems to hold edge well, sharpens easily, cuts very well.
Are these tools a find, or are they relatively common? Have not paid a fortune for any of the pieces, but just don't hear anything about them.

Hi Bill,
There's lots of information stored on all sorts of makers on the Old Tools site, including Butcher.

Type in the following words:
butcher chisel
And you will get a lot of hits, including ones on history, makers marks etc.
Butcher made great tools. Most of my firmer chisels are Butcher.
Take care, Mike

I always thought it was an owner's stamp for some guy whose first name was Wood.
