One More Segmented HF

Last one I'll post today, promise. This one has a Redwood Body with Yellowheart, Bloodwood and veneer segments. It measures 5-1/2" tall x 6-1/2" dia and the foot is 1-3/8" dia. The body developed a small crack which shows in the pic. Good thing is you can only see it from one side:) .

Beautiful work indeed. Here is a dumb question for you being I have never done segmented work. When glueing up the pieces and putting them in the order they are, do you see what it suppose to look like in your minds' eye as you are gluing this??? I know you must layout the pattern on paper but to visualize the outcome can not be easy.:confused:
