Actually it arrived last week, but just had a chance to to take a picture.

Maybe next year I'll get the matching slider. It pale's in comparison to the Porter that I sold, but it is a very nice machine.

One question though. What's the deal with the start button? I have to hold it until it gets up to speed and then release. Is that normal? Are euro motors different than US motor's?

It was a hard day when I loaded the Porter onto the trailer and waved good-bye... As you know I had put a lot of work into it.

On my A3-31, and on a friend's A3-41, you just punch the go button and it goes.

Just got off the phone with my salesrep at felder. Holding the button in is normal on the newer machines. He called the starter an inverter. Only takes a second or two. The machine uses DC braking to stop the head also. Does your's have a brake?

Odd that they call it an inverter, as that is a device that converts AC to DC. Perhaps he meant a phase converter?

Mine is about 6 months old and starts the same way. It is a great machine. I'm sure you'll enjoy using it.

Marty,

I'd guess that it does not have a starting circuit that is centrifugally controlled. My older Minimax saw is like that. The start capacitor on it is controlled by the start switch. I think it's a European thing.

Inverter aka vfd (variable frequency drive) is what it could be. It could have a 3 phase motor, vfd 1 phase in-3 phase out to the motor. Could be a soft start, the delay on start. Braking is applied when the stop button is pushed then stops.

That was what I was thinking. Same motor in all the machines, but just a different start circuit...

I can't read Germany so I can read the circuit diagram.

Ya, that's what through me when he said that. The manual does say DC braking.

I'm getting very tempted to pull the covers off and have a look around.
