I just finished building two bent lamination drum tables. I posted the thread on the construction of these little tables about a week ago. If you haven’t seen it, here is the link,

A little table that took a whole lot of work. (Pix) (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=44855)

The Indonesian rosewood table was commissioned for a client, and I built this one out of Striped Asian Ebony. I will keep this one in my gallery. They were built at the same time and the only difference is that on the ebony table, I used wenge stiles.

I stayed with the designer’s choice of the “falling leaves” for the pulls.

This table also has a 16 segment starburst veneered top. The striped wood really shows off here.

This detail shot really shows how I had to shape the outer face of the stiles to match the diameter of the round horizontally curved molding.

When I’m gluing the outer framework on my veneered tops, I am a stickler for perfectly aligned joints where the frame segment meets the veneer segments. If all eight of these aren’t perfect, I think the top is trash.

Anyway, I’m not sure which one I like best, here they are side by side,

Please tell me which one do you like the best?

Thanks for looking,

Another wonderful job. I like them both. But if I had to chose I would pick the one with the wenge stiles. I like the slight contrast. I always learn something new from you.

Those are some great looking tables John. I'd have to see them in person to choose between them but the striped Asian Ebony table has more visual impact in the pictures.

For me, it's a no brainer. There is simply no more beautiful wood that rose wood and nothing could showcase that incredible top any better than it is here. For my money, this is one of the best examples of fine furniture I have ever seen.

John,

I am not worthy to choose, but if I could take one home, it would be the one on the left.

Have you submitted photos to FWW for the reader's gallery yet? If not, you should.

Your skills are nothing short of amazing.

Congratulations on them both! The right one. Contract makes it stick out. Incredible joinery! Phil

Striped ebony piece really looks great, that would have to get my vote.

The rosewood table was/is gorgeous! The striped ebony blows me away! I have just the spot for it if you are having space problems.
