I think it was Harbor Freight that at saw a part number for those toggle hold down clamps. I've been looking all over for a less expensive alternative to the "woodworking stores"..... Any suggestions.??????

Hi Ken, I think I got some Destaco and Carr-Lane clamps from McMaster Carr. Pricing seemed good for the quality.
take care,
John

Is this what you are looking for:

At $14.99 a pair, the price is reasonable, IMHO.

I've gotten some at Harbor Freight and they seem to work well.

I had the same problem, not liking to pay $16 and up for them at Woodcraft or Rockler. I was at the WWing show here in Portland last weekend, and picked up a couple for $6 each. They're exactly the same as the one I bought for $15.99 a couple of months ago.

I got mine at the store. The item number is 39880, which isn't available mail order apparently.

Word of caution on cheap toggles: They spontaneously unlock!
Maybe not worth that risk. Lose a piece of work unexpectedly and it could be curtains.

The HF ones seem very solid and I can't realy see them coming unclamped because they kind of go over center. And unlike the "good" ones, they actually have a hold down bolt that can be adjusted long enough to clamp properly.

I see a fair number of DeStaCo clamps on eBay.....some used and some new. Very good prices for the most part. Just have to be patient until the particular model that you need comes along.
