This one is 7 inches wide X 3 inches tall with a lacquer finish. The malachite inlay rim tops it off.

Nicely done, Glenn.

The malachite treatment is a neat touch. I particularly like the pith cracks in both sides of the bowl.

I've never seen mulberry before. Thanks for sharing:) .

Glenn that is a beauty. I am with Pete. Would you mind sharing how you did the rim? Nice job. Like the fit, color and finish.

Glad to answer your question about the rim Bernie. I used a Bedan tool, but you can use a parting tool to make a furrow or bed for the malachite to lay in. I leave about an 1/8 if an inch of wood on each side of the furrow. I start inlaying with larger pieces of malachite, glue those with thin CA, then medium pieces, and then malachite dust, applying CA glue as I put on the malachite. When it dries I sand the malachite flat with 40 grit, and then start on the sides with 60 grit, and go on up. As I move up in grits I am rolling the sides over into a rolled lip. I hope this makes sense, if not I can do a pictorial the next time I make one.
