This is an example of a magnolia bowl, 12.5 inches wide X 5 inches high, dyed with analine dye. The finish is multiple coats of lacquer.

That is a beauty Glenn. Like the form and color. I have thought about trying to dye something. Nice job.

Another beauty, Glenn.

Never seen Magnolia turned either. Whats it like without the dye?

Hi Glenn, that bowl is a real beauty!!
I like the rim and the curves a lot, and the color is exceptional.

Very nice! Man that is an awesome finish. I love the "wet" appearance of high gloss.

Great job Glenn! Love working with aniline dyes. Did you spray the Lacquer? And if so what brand did you use. I've been thinking about tinting some Duravar and spraying it on some of my bowls.

Brian, I will have a package headed your way after I get through with some shows. Thanks for the one I received the other day. I use spray right out of the can. I have never bought any sprayer. I have sure considered it.

Glenn,
Did you buff the lacquer? That's a great looking finish you put on using a spray can. I've got some Behlen's clear gloss in a spray can and it doesn't look anywhere close to that good. I normally use my HVLP to get it to come out looking that good. "You da man", as they say in street talk!

Brian, I use Deft Gloss Lacquer, and I have about a can of spray on this bowl. I let it dry for about a week and then I buffed it, the final buff was canauba wax. And now you know the rest of the story, hope it helps. The best thing you can do is spray with thin coats, and put a lot of these on it. I probably sprayed this bowl for a week to get this finish. Email me at home if you have anymore questions.
