We've been complaining about ACQ PT Pine for the three years and change that it has been sold. It twists, cups, cracks, checks and otherwise mutilates itself during the drying stage ad naseum.

Personally, I have stopped using it for overhead structures entirely because of this.

Aparently I haven't been the only one. The 'new and improved' Micro ACQ is here. Just used a bit of it to frame my newest deck additions.

The weight is about the same, but the color is different as seen in the pic below. Apparently there are three other treated pines headed our way, but to date this is the only one I know of that has reached us.

Workability is about the same as well and cost is stable so far. Personally I like it better cause it's not as wet or as green. I am doing a loing term test on it's stability and I'll update you as time goes by if anything goes awry.

I take it that it's a lot lighter in weight also?

Unfortunately no....it is virtually the same weight. Sure wish they'd come up with a way to lighten it considerably.
