I just turned my first piece of birdseye maple. It won't be the last, I promise! What would you recommend for a finish?

Would also appreciate someone recommending how best to appy Deft brushing lacquer on some other turnings.

As none of these are finished no photos but will post some when they are done.

TIA,

Ken, we are true believers in Deft or Deft-type lacquers. Brushing that stuff is a pain though, because as hard as you try, you will get runs in it. We spray--mix it about 50-50 with lacquer thinner and spray on two or three coats.

Would also appreciate someone recommending how best to appy Deft brushing lacquer on some other turnings. As above, you won't be happy with the finish if you brush. Deft comes in spray cans, but if you have a spray rig and a turntable, it's easier.

TIA,

Good luck,

Nancy
