At least I was told by the person who gave me the wood that it was from a Plum tree that was in his yard. Assuming it is, and this is normal coloration, I'm really surprised that you generally don't see the wood comercially avalaible as the color is fantastic.

Dimensions are 4-3/"4 x 2". I've got a much larger peice that should make a great HF.

Thanks for looking

I love that piece Bob. That's giving me something good to look forward to...I've got a 50 pound plum burl sitting in my shop right now... But I can't find anyone who's able to core the sucker for me... Hence why it is still sitting there....

Very nice indeed Bob, those thin walls are very cool.

That appears to actually be Purple Plum, as opposed to a "standard" plum, hence the purple streaks. I have a huge stump that a co-worker pulled up just waiting for me to get off go.

Nice job, it does turn nice, too, doesn't it? Nice, interlocking grain, polishes up well.

I like the rim. Leaving some of the natural edge will no doubt lead to some great conversations..............
