I love working with Bradford Pear It turns and finishes so nice and you can get it glass smooth! These two bowls came from the same blank the larger one measures 8 1/2" x 3 1/2" smaller measures 6" x 2 1/4" finish is wipe on gel poly and buffed.
I sold the larger one at this weekends show.
Thanks for looking!

Very pretty pieces there Jim!!!! Yup, I really like turning Bradford pear as well. Kinda makes ya wanna run around the neighborhood asking if the neighbors need a bradford pear taken for for'em. :D

Jim, it is work like this that makes the pear tree in my backyard shake in fear. Simple, but elegant, very nice :)

Very nice Jim, I really like the form of these. I'm in the process of removing a Bradford Pear with a trunk size of a little less than 2 ft at the base. Looks like I'll have some real fun. Thanks for posting.:)

Nice work Jim. Did you turn them green, dry, and re-turn or did you just finish them green?

Those bowls look buttery smooth... nice work!

Bradford Pear is easily one of my favorite woods to turn. I have had great luck leaving the piths in, so don't limit yourself with the wood you have by trying to cut out/remove them..........YMMV.

Thanks All!
Raymond,
I turned them green DNA'ed them and re-turned. I love this method and I just wait a few weeks for them to dry. I hate the way green wood clogs up the sandpaper and I dont like wet sanding on the lathe, so when ever I can I dry my pieces.
