This is a newly turned cherry burl that I have been saving for about two years. I've been holding off on turning it until I felt like my skill level was at a point where I wouldn't blow it up.

It's 6" diameter by 3 1/2" tall at the tallest point, sanded through 400 and steel wool, and finished with a MS/BLO/VAR mix.

Comments and critiques welcome for the piece and photo.

Very nice bowl.

I admire your will to resist the temptation to use it earlier and save the blank until now.

Looks like a dandy, Raymond!

It may just be my gettin' old eyes, but parts of the pic (edges of the bowl/rim) looks a bit fuzzy? That's bein' nit-picky, for sure.

You can break out the rest of the wood you've been saving too!!

Beautiful! I like it.

For the picture you might want to back the camera away from the bowl more than usual with it zoomed out. Then crop the picture on your computer. It works for me.

Very impressive! I'm not brave enough to try anything like that yet. I'll be waiting it out just like you did for a while!

Well let's see... the rim is a bit uneven and it still has bark on it.:p

It looks great Raymond. Well worth the wait, but what I've seen of your work, I think you could have done this a while back.;)

Thanks for all the comments guys.

As for the turning time, I carve off a little here and there during nap time and between 9 PM and 12 AM as I always have. Between that and my wife being supportive of my woodturning it works out pretty well.
