Well thanks to those that answered some of my questions. As I stated previously I wanted good user planes not ones that sit on a shelf and get looked at. With this I went and found a couple that looked like good candidates that I could refurbish for this. What I came across was this No3 and No4 Stanley off of ebay at what I thought was very reasonable prices.

Looking at the original pictures from the auction you can see they are pretty rusted and nasty looking but they were complete with no damage or repairs to the knob and handle.

This is how they turned out.

The No3 is type 5 but the blade was replaced before I got it with one that had the Sweetheart logo on it. It was quite the challenge to get the frog adjusted where I wanted it without that screw adjustment behind it but I got it done and really like the results.

The rust on this No4 was much harder to get off and there is a bit of pitting near the rear of this side but none on the other nor bottom. It had a cheesy blade on it and I replaced it with a Lie-Nielsen. It works also quite well.

The handles and knobs on both of these were refinished completely with Danish oil then Lacquer. I am very pleased with the results and am looking forward to using them in my shop.
