It is made of red oak and sprayed with black lacquer. The one pic looks brown I suppose because of the halogen light I was using to light it up. Sure is black though. Tough to see what your doing when working on it. I kinda like the look but hope not to do another one soon.

The tough part of this project was making the bifold flipper doors for the center section.

I actually like the contrast in the pic under the halogen lights. Either way, it's a very striking look!

I don't have all that many pics there but there are a few more. I wish the camera would do it justice. Looks soooo much better in person.

Great looking entertainment center Jim. How many hours do you figure you have invested in the construction and finishing.
take care,
John

Thanks John, I have probably around 40 hours in that piece but I didn't keep time on it and never do on any of my projects. When I go full time I'll probably keep time on projects for reference but I just get to work on stuff now and then at my present schedule. I thought I never would get done with the finish. It seems like it's always that way though:o

nicely done Jim, I hope you didn't have to move it as a single unit.;)

Naw, it busts apart in 7 pieces plus the shelving and drawers so I guess it was carried in 21 pieces in all including the bi-fold doors that are applied with them fancy clip on hinges. First time to use those and they are really nice for such an application.
