View Full Version : Flex Power Lock Disks vs Velcro Foam Pads for power sanding?

I need to get some smaller disks for power sanding. Right now I've a modified 5 inch rubber backing disk with mandrel that I came across at work. Added sticky back velcro to it and thus can use sanding disks from my ROS. Works good but access to the inside smaller bowls is not possible. FWIW, I'm using a dewalt cordless right angle drill as my power. I've a dewalt right angle corded that I use as well but the cordless is so easy.

Looking into the flex edge power locks, but the foam pad velcro versions are tempting as I can get hook and loop ROS pads from work on the cheap. Also H&L pads are easier to get most places vs having to order the flex edge power locks.

Really only looking for power sanding for rough clean up to 120grit. After that I really don't mind hand sanding on the lathe. So I'd be biased to something that works better for rough sanding vs finish sanding.

Opinions?
