Adjusting pulleys to be coplaner??

Hi folks,


I picked up an old craftsman bandsaw. I have replaced the bearings, and one pully which was out of true. How do I align the pulleys so they are coplaner? Is there a trick?

Jonathan,

I've always used a metal ruler and line up the pullies until the metal ruler touches at 2 points on each pully.

Dennis has got it. I have a reasonably stright piece of aluminum "angle iron" I use for this.

Yeah, thats what I figured. I just have not found anything straight enough that will fit in under there yet. I'll find something. A guy at work was trying to tell me how to do it with a piece of rope, but it did not work for me. Either I did not understand him, or he is full of hot air!!
