I'm lucky enough to be in a woodturning club that has a few very talented professionals in it. Last night we had our monthly meeting and shared some show and tell. I took a picture of a few rough outs that one of our members wanted to share with us.

These pieces are done by Anatoly Tsiris and will be allowed to dry, then finished with a nice shine of mastercoat gel. Anatoly uses a custom Nichols lathe with a 3HP motor and a 10' (that's right, ten foot) long boring bar that weighs about 135 lbs. It's a real sight to see when he's roughing out a blank.

I hope you'll have pics of them to post when finished. Those are going to be some beauties. How big are they?

I'd estimate that the big bowl is 30"-36" in diameter. The round hollow form is probably 25"-30" in diameter. Everything he does is at this scale.

Holy Cow Raymond. I agree I hope you will be able to get pictures. Those things are hugh and will be beautiful when done.
