I'm lucky enough to be in a woodturning club that has a few very talented professionals in it. Last night we had our monthly meeting and shared some show and tell. I took a picture of a few rough outs that one of our members wanted to share with us.
These pieces are done by Anatoly Tsiris and will be allowed to dry, then finished with a nice shine of mastercoat gel. Anatoly uses a custom Nichols lathe with a 3HP motor and a 10' (that's right, ten foot) long boring bar that weighs about 135 lbs. It's a real sight to see when he's roughing out a blank.
