Anyone have any rules of thumb for measurement of the parts of a panel door. I recognize that it might be somewhat determined by available tooling (Router bits, fielding plane, etc.), but absent those practical considerations, anyone have some feel for the aesthetics?

My cabinet doors are 16" wide and 26" high and 3/4" thick. My sketchup drawing, which looks okay to my eye, has the frame 2 3/16" wide, of which 3/16" is a molded edge. The bevel (exposed portion) is 2-1/2".

Having cut a couple of the panels, and milled the stock for the rails and stiles, I held up that stock to the panel to get a feel, and wish now that I had used 1/2" wider stock and 1/2" narrower bevel. But that is only gut feel. Does anyone have an aesthetic rules of thumb for something like this?
