I finally finished this wall unit I was working part time for the last month..the wood is made from laminated birch/maple/cherry which I recovered from work where an entire office reception was built with it.. the new owners did not want it..cause it did not fit in with thier new decor...good for me..I ended up with a very huge amount of it...:D Thanks for looking...

Hi Mike, Great job and the fact that you used material that would have otherwise been trashed, makes it even better. Thanks for posting the pictures.
Quick question. How much rework of the salvaged material was required?
Take care,
John

Mike, that's a really interesting looking piece due to the material! Great job!

Earlier during the year I had demolished a wall that separated teh living room and kitchen and build this island between the two..

Eventually the whole kitchen will be build this way.

Very nice!

This has to be one of the nicest projects from free wood that I've seen.

And, to second John R's question - how much reworking of the salvaged wood was needed?

Thanks for sharing.

Two thumbs up from me. I love lighter woods and finishes and I love reclaiming material. Beautiful use of both.
