Wine rack spacing

I want to build a small wine rack to hang on a wall and was wondering what you all use for standard dimensions of a wine bottle? I want to use the "ladder" style of racking and hold maybe 12 or 15 bottles

There isn't really a standard size of wine bottle. However, if you design for a bottle which is 3.5" diameter by 12" tall, that will cover almost all 750 mL still wines.

I see an opportunity to visit the local liquor store here.....er..honey...I need about 2 cases of wine to check size....be right back....:)

Maybe check some of the online plans, or David Marks I believe built one on the DIY chanel, might have the plans online?
