Have not done enough attention mongering lately, so I offer this for your enjoyment or dismay.

Couple of early on pix:

Main unit almost complete:

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y164/bonely/IMG_3545.jpg

Two of four side units ready for doors:

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y164/bonely/IMG_3563.jpg

All the tops turned out well-cornices straight grained, dentil quarter sawn, and front piece highly figured. Also, the grain chases around the corners on almost every miter:

And, definitive proof that it is my work:

Since these were taken, bottom doors on side units, rainglass doors on middle of side units added.

All door panels bookmatched and BLOed before Waterlox. Interior panels of resawn and bookmatched eucalyptus.

Treatments of the tops and all other components are proportionately reduced in size as the units get smaller.

Hope you enjoy--if not, at least I hope I didn't make you gag. :D

That looks great as does the cherry. The cornices really set it off. I'm not sure I could build something that big and keep it square. Now what is going to fit in that, a new DLP, LCD or Plasma?

I'd say it was coming along quite nicely!!

Well Done.

Keep the pictures coming as the project moves towards completion.

Thass up to the client, but it is sized for up to a 50" flat screen and the main cab is 26 inches deep if they opt for an ancient CRT:D

hi Scott, Great looking shoes, I really like how the red and yellowish tint matches up with that other object in the picture. :)
Seriously, great work, lots of nice detail and beautiful contrasts. How long have you been working on this.
take care,
John

Way too long. Client wanted it by mid-October, but changed and said next month, thank goodness. I make it as if I were going to own it, so did not want to rush at all.

Hi Scott.
That looks like a lot of work, nice and crisp. The wood choices are great and the grain running around the corners will be a joy forever.

I posted my initial comments before reading the other posts. At least half the responses had something to say about the sneakers!

Nice work !! Can you say more aboutthe finishing schedule. Is it really just BLO and waterlox

Scott Henderson

As to finish.
The resawn eucalyptus and cherry panels were given a light coat of BLO (wipe on/wipe off soon) and then simply 3-4 wipe on coats of Waterlox Original. This is my first Waterlox use, and I must say it is as good as has been said on various forums. Self-leveling properties are great right out of the can, and scraping it produced wispy shavings that were uniform.

The rest of the piece is just various coats of Waterlox. Was considering using the satin for a final coat, but the muted shine and depth of the figure are just about right for something this size.

Australian eucalyptus and some hybrid eucalyptus on the panels.

American walnut in the door frames.

Scott, not too keen on your intro to the post, but the woodworking looks great.

Fixed it for you, Dan. How's that?

This was copied from a less kinder, gentler forum unedited.
