Since creekers collectively seem to know everything there is to know ... does anyone know of a web site that lists what paper size is commonly used in different countries, i.e. letter vs. A4?

Specifically I'm looking for Nigeria and Mauritius. I'm guessing they use A4 since they were British/European colonies.

I do not know of a specific web site, but AFAIK the whole world uses ISO216 paper sizes except Canada and the U.S. (and some in Japan). That means A and B sizes for various applications, including A4 for letters and magazines.

We use A4 here, that is a standard size

A Series Formats B Series Formats
4A0 1682 × 2378 - - - -
2A0 1189 × 1682 - - - -
A0 841 × 1189 B0 1000 × 1414
A1 594 × 841 B1 707 × 1000
A2 420 × 594 B2 500 × 707
A3 297 × 420 B3 353 × 500
A4 210 × 297 B4 250 × 353
A5 148 × 210 B5 176 × 250
A6 105 × 148 B6 125 × 176
A7 74 × 105 B7 88 × 125
A8 52 × 74 B8 62 × 88
A9 37 × 52 B9 44 × 62
A10 26 × 37 B10 31 × 44

The sizes I highlighted are the ones that we use the most.

Cheers!

Tom - don't tell us that you and your cronies are gonna switch from emailing the details of the wealth I'm about to inherit to snail mail. Gonna cut into my take big time:D

All I remember after 20 plus years ago in Nigeria is that the paper was longer and narrower than our std 8.5 x 11 .

Sorry, don't know of a web site that lists them but if the country has close ties to Europe then it's A4, if to the US then 8.5x11, if both then they probably use both. In the Middle East both are standard. For example, if you deal with Saudi ARAMCO (the worlds largest oil company) you will use the American system for everything (plugs, paper, etc). If you deal with many of ARAMCO's suppliers (many with British managers) then you'll use A4. The Saudi banking system and SABIC use A4, the military uses both, Tamimi Bus uses 8.5x11 (Mr. Tamimi is a great fan of the US), airlines A4, school system A4, most government offices A4.
