I have been watching this forum for some time and finally decided to join in the fun. My name is John and I like to do all aspects of woodworking with scrolling being my main forte. Recently I bought a Jet mini lathe and have been playing around with it. This can be another one of those addicting hobbies and an expensive one at that. But with that being said I am currently working on making some small birdhouse ornaments. I want to get into making other small items I can sell such as bottle stoppers. I have learned alot in a short time and want to continue and this seems like a very good source of information. So look for many more questions from me and thanks in advance for your replys. :)

Welcome, John.

Just last month Bob Rosand demo'd for my club and did a few birdhouse ornaments and was a lot of fun to watch and learn. Here's a link to that (http://www.mainewoodturners.org/html/september_2006_-_bob_rosand.html); and here's a link to his site (http://www.rrosand.com/index.html) Be sure to read his articles section.

Welcome John. Lots of good people and lots of knowledge. I to am fairly new at turning. Got the first lathe last December and have bought 2 more since. Yep it is addicting and expensive but a load of fun. I am going to learn how to turn birdhouse ornaments and Christmas ornaments. You might look into lidded boxes. They sell real well around here. I love doing those and they make great gifts.
