i flip flopped back and forth between the rikon and the psi turncrafter pro but when woodcraft put the rikon on sale no brainer for 219 with all the features , but the harrisburg store was out/on backorder for me they should get them on mon or tues

so i will soon be a rikon owner

not a wasted trip though harbor freight is right aside of woodcraft so i got the 35 dollar set of starter lathe tools

yea my son is really excited hes 15 and been pushing to do pens etc but on the craftsman i have in the shop now it was to dangerous for him or me to even try and turn it was the one where it looked like a small train track

and it wasnt the bench that thing probably weighs between 3-400 lbs
all 5 inch oak posts 2x8's frame and 3 pieces of 3/4 plywood on top
even used a ratchet strap was that bad my tools were vibrating off the walls

FYI to everybody. Rockler has the Jet VS mini on sale with a chuck for $299.
Some of the stores are sold out but are taking orders.

I am new to turning but picked upp the Rikon last month before it went on sale at the Richmond store. I did get the 8" grinder and free stand yesterday. Now today I am going to pick up some materials to build a stand for the lathe. The Rikon does look like a sweet machine.
