Actually I had a head start. The stock was glued up months ago and got set aside. I've built about 6 of these so far and had the patterns on hand.
I rough cut the top, legs the use a pattern and pattern bit on the router for the finish cut.
American Beech, BLO and ML Cambells lacquer
Needs a couple more coats of clear yet and rubbed out, but I couldn't wait to post the pics

Nice job Robert! Those are great looking. My wife has been bugging me for a small table like that to put next to the recliner. Did you turn the post yourself?

How did you attach he legs to the post? Sliding dovetails? If so, how did you get rout the slots in the post?
Nice tables, btw.

Blaine. After gluing up the stock for the billet I cut it into a hexagon on the table saw. this way all your legs are space equaly around the post
Then to the router table
!st cut is a 3/4 releif about 3/16 deep for the shoulder of the legs cut it as long as the leg is high. When you slide the leg in it sets in the relief. that way you don't have to match the curve of the post on the leg.
Second cut a 1/4 inch slot about 1/4 inch shy of the end of the relief. This way your not cutting all that material with the dovetail bit
Third follow the 1/4 inch slot with your dovetail bit.
After cutting the dovtail pins on the legs trim about a 1/4 inch of the pin from the top edge so your leg slides the whole way in.
After you get it all set up pop it in the lathe and turn it.

Yes I turned the post myself
