I just finally got through the sloooooowwwww checkout process. I now have 4-24" and 4-36" Jorgies to add to my 16 Besseys. What am I gonna do with two different colors? Anyone want to trade some recently purchased Besseys? :p

I should have set up my account earlier. I had them in my basket. Then by the time it was ready for me to put in my CC they were all gone. :( :( :(

I start the process to order the clamps on sale at Woodcraft at 11:03 CDT. It takes 15 minutes to get to the sale page -- some server they have. Then it takes another 10 minutes to add the clamps to the shopping basket. (Great response time.) I start through check-out and 20 minutes later, after filling out all the shipping info, but before they ask for my credit card info, I get a summary page that says that there is NO INVENTORY, and to remove the items from my shopping cart.

And now here is a kicker. I signed up for the Email reminder. Well I just got the reminder, it arrived with a time stamp of 11:42, AFTER THE CLAMPS WERE GONE.

What a crock!

Call it sour grapes, or whatever you wish, but I still think it is a crock of "stuff."

Just another WoodCraft happy customer, NOT!

Yea, yea, they said limited quantity :(

To keep the purchase under the radar, I went to my sister's dorm, ordered it on her card to be delivered to her. I got 4 of each, confirmed the order and am now a happy camper!

I meant to add that about an hour before I made sure the account was all setup because I thought there might be some problems. I'm glad I did.

Ken,
I "found" sale page quickly and just as quickly found that all three sizes are, "SOLD OUT" and, NO BACK ORDERS.

Much ado about nothing unless, you got in there really early.
Next time?

Glad for those of you able to get through.

In this case, there would be a certain advantage to living in time zones other than Eastern. Some of us just can't stay up that late and still finction at work the next day.

Maybe the next start time can be in the middle of the day - after they get in more than just a "teaser" quantity. And no, I am not driving to my "nearest" Woodcraft store on the off-chance there may be some there.

Having missed out on the Amazon Jorgie Orgy, I set an alarm at 11:57 last night. I signed on and went to the Woodcraft page and kept refreshing until the good prices appeared. Then I went through the amazingly slow process of adding 4 of each to the cart and checking out.

The server response time was glacial, but it eventually worked and my order went through.

I'd love to see the server traffic stats from last night!

I also wonder about the poor sould who probably stood in line all night at the local woodcraft store to snap up the dozen of each size they had available...

Anyway, I was one of the lucky ones, but it was not particularly easy.

went right to the sale page and refreshed, at 11:00 CST i started my order. I was checking out a minute later. I used the guest side and it took about 15 minutes. I got a confirmation in my email, so 4 48's to ad to the 24's and 36's I bought erlier. Now what to do with 12 Jorgies? I guess I have to store them on the other side of the shop so I don't have cross polination with my Bessey's, otherwise there could be another clamp orgy going on. I can just see it now... baby Bergy's.

I know it is a free market, but it does kind a tick a guy off with these teaser sales. I was in the Indy store last week and the first sales man didn't even know about the sale. Finally the second salesman I talked to knew about it but had no details, said wait till the flyer comes out. Got the flyier Wednesday with opportunity for a e-mail reminder from woodcraft. Put in for the reminder. Just checked, got the e-mail reminder at 11:06 my time, which would have been 12:06 eastern time. By that time it sounds like woodcraft servers were already locked up. I finally got on line last night at 11:30, 12:30 eastern. Clamps gone. Called the Indy store at 9:00 oclock this morning, surprise phone busy. Finally got through at 9:05 clamps all gone. O well, I feel much better now that I have vented. I did get in on the Sears bessy frenzy last year so I can't complain too much. I just bought 3 PC sanders, so I am crossing my fingers on that deal. Sorry don't have any cheese to go with this wine.

If you're in the area, go to the Palatine IL Woodcraft. I was there this am and got 6 of each size, (no limit at this store). When I left, there were about 40+ of each size left. If you hurry, you can still get some.

Good Luck!

Called it a night. Got up this morning, had my home page set at woodcraft, and right there it said sold out. Then I got there friendly reminder about the sale. Already have 24 of the things, but could use some more 24". Maybe next time, whoever is having the sale will do better than woodcraft

The one good thing about woodcraft as opposed to the other sales is they advertised it well in advance and they were available on-line and at the store. Of course this probably means they were sold out alot faster than the others.

Like the rest of you...I too was frustrated by the slow server and lack of inventory after spending 20+ mins trying to check out (had everything set up ahead of time). I went to bed very disgruntled.

But on a whim I just called my local Woodcraft store (at noon). Yep, still have them, limit of 6 of each size. SCORE!!! :) I grabbed 6 of each. Now I just have to drive the hour to the store to pick them up. But for this price, the 2 hour round trip and about 6 gallons of diesel are well worth it.

Be well,

Doc

I am easily confused with am and pm so I thought that the sale started at noon duh!

SO I told my boss I had to go to the store and thought I was showing up early at the Atlanta woodcraft store. Yeah me and about 15 other people. So I just got in the clamp line.

THey had 2 pallets but the limit was 2 per size per person so I got 2 24 and 2 36 inch clamps. better than a sharp stick in the eye but there were several P.O'ed people that wanted 4 of each. but there were some left when I left.

I like the price but I am not sure the feeding frenzy is worth it.

After missing out on all the previous clamp sales, I was determined to get in on this one. Then crew schedules calls and offers me a good deal trip at time and a half. Thinking of all the tools I can buy with the extra money, I say yes. So when 0000 eastern rolls around, I am on final approach to IAH. Oh well, missed out again.

We get back to AFW very early this morning, so I take a short nap, then get up and go down to my local Woodcraft. I show up at 0730 for the 0900 store opening. I am the first one there, so I sit in my truck and read the paper, trying to make sure I don't fall asleep and miss the opening. Then at eight, another truck pulls up. Then another, and another, and another. By 0900 there are 6 guys standing in line for what ends up being less than a dozen clamps of each size. Fortunately, everyone does not "max out" on their limit of 4 of each size, so when the frenzy is over, there are still 4 clamps left. I take home 4 24's and 4 36's. I won't need clamps for a while.

Was it worth it? I don't know. I sure like my Bessey's, but I'll give these a chance.

Sure am sleepy....time to take a nap.

I got in on the Amazon deal with 4 36" then realized with what I do I should've gotten the 24's instead - oh well live & learn. then everyone starts talking about the woodcraft sale. I resist the urge & don't even worry about it. Then something strange happened - I got in my car to go to lunch & somehow ended up at the woodcraft store just down the road 5 minutes from here. I don't know how I got there but I walked in picked up the last 3 jorgies they had (24") paid the man & walked out

There was a stack labeled sold to a friend from WC so I told the guy to tell Fred that I slid him a $10 bill & he let me have them instead :D

Ok I definately have enough clamps now!

Same experience as most others-set up account early-logged on at 11:02 CST, had items in basket, waited & "refreshed " 4 times--got to chk out and was told "no Inventory"- (I had called the Woodcraft 1-800 # yesterday and both ladies I spoke with were very friendly and helpful-they really were and they were working late-I was even warned to be ready to chk-out as soon as the sale prices were displayed)--The problem was, their server wouldn't let me.... did find a couple at the local store this morning--30 miles away.

Question--Does anybody from Woodcraft read these posts so they know they are creating some and bad feelings from people who spend money? The 10% online purchase "sorry for the inconvenience" coupon is nice, but not the same warm feeling a customer gets when a"pleasant" sales experience happens. Larry

But you do get the prize for traveling the longest distance to get those clamps!! :D

Got to woodcraft today at about 8:30. I was 2nd in line, by the time I left, they handed the ninth person a ticket allowing him to buy 2 of each size.

Got 2 24s and 2 36s to go with my 18 Besseys.

I got another 60 or so spring clamps and c-clamps and bessey minis,
my question is............does having these 4 more clamps help my cause as a woodworker, or am I just a sucker for a good deal.

Same story as most others re:on-line ordering attempt at 12:02am, EAst Coast time, got right in to site, got to clamps, "sold out" msg. Called Woodcraft STore in Tigard,Or. this am. I spoke with "Jeff". They had some left. I have ordered from them before with credit card and they shipped. Even though he had some in stock and no customers at the door, he refused to take my order and ship. In the last two years, I have spent over $3K at that store. I fully understand "limited to stock on hand" but to have them on hand and refuse to sell in the same manor as I have done business with them in the past just soiled their reputation. I'll find somewhere else to do business. Compare this to my earlier posting about Delmhorst ATTABOY if you want a comparison regarding customer service.
Thanks

Ernie,

2 weeks ago someone posted that they had found the clamps on sale at there local Woodcraft in Raleigh NC. The next morning I called the store in Charlotte NC since I stop by that store on the way to visit my mom in Winston-Salem. They told me that they had just received thier clamps the day before and that they were available at the store for the sale price at that time. They shipped me 6 36" clamps out the next day. I did have to pay $12 shipping. You might won't to try calling stores outside of your area. I think each store handled the sale as they saw fit. You might get lucky and find a store that still has some that is willing to ship to you.

This is an important point...almost all Woodcraft stores are franchises and the owner can do a lot of things that a company store might not be able to do, including advancing sale prices...or refusing to ship on a special like this. To that fellow who's done a lot of business with a local store and was refused a credit card buy, I'd let that owner know about it plain and certain!

John,
I'm going to the wood show in Tacoma, WA tomorrow and will visit the Woodcraft booth/store to see if there is any chance. Other than that, I sent Woodcraft HQ and email about my previous customer status and this experience. But I appreciate your suggestion re: calling another store to see if the policy is different. Will post back after the show on Sunday.
