Does anyone have plans for making the spinners (izzat what you call them) for spinning tops. Those little knobs that fit over the handle and have the little strings to pull. I could probably figure out how to make one, but if anyone can figure out what I am talking about and post plans it would be very much appreciated.

Is this what you had in mind? These handles are 7" long the top is 4 1/2" - 5" tall and the disc is 4" dia. If you need "construction" photos I would be happy to oblige.

Yeah ... those are exactly the things. If you have constructions photos they would be most appreciated!!! Thanks!

Terry,
I've been looking for something like that as well. Maybe you could shoot something at me as well. I make small tops and am looking to expand and get more diversity.

Any help will be appreciated.

Jonathon,

Here are some other tops (http://www.turnedtreasures.com/project.html/finger_top.html) to try. I know they don't have a string, but they're fun anyway!

Hey thanks for the website Keel... I think I have made one of those tops that size. They are fun little projects. I just thought it would be cool to make a big top and see how big I could make one. The little pulleys would be necessary to spin it. The little pulley things for the tops that Terry made don't look that difficult to make I just wondered if anyone had a tutorial for making one. Terry said he would post pix, but he hasn't gotten around to it yet :D ... no hurry though.

I will post a start to finish tutorial but it will have to wait until Monday. I am leaving for the Indy fest tomorrow.

Seems like I ran across a tutorial that would be just what you are looking for. I'll dig around today and see if I can locate it. I'll try, no promises though.

Here's one (http://www.shopsmithhandson.com/archives/sept_oct_01/html/moneymakerproj/woodentoytop.htm) that I recently ran across. Down at the bottom of that page click on Top Plans (http://www.shopsmithhandson.com/archives/sept_oct_01/html/moneymakerproj/woodentoytopplans1.htm) to see dimensions.
