Which veneer backing for which purpose? When does one use:
1. Wood Backed Veneer?
2. Paper Backed Veneer?
3. Flexwood Backed Veneer?
4. When to use 90 degree user attached “backer veneer” ?
5. When to use pressure sensitive adhesive backed veneer?
6. Did I forget any options?
Thanks,
Phil

phil,
1&2 are usually used by cabinet shops that don`t lay up their own veneers, NBL(no black line) is what the locals call wood backed.
3) is usually used by shops that don`t lay-up their own on curved surfaces.
4) when you`re going over a void filled or unstable substraight, be sure to use a glue with elastic properties here.
5) when you`re in a hurry and don`t really care about product life;)
6) heck yes! for the most pleasing results lay up your own veneers sequentially cut from a flitch. the prettiest veneer goes to market in flitch form, it`s very unusal for a sheet veneer manufacturer to spend the time or money to obtain the nice stuff and lay it up in order to show its best qualities..a small investment of time will allow you to create some really pretty stuff............02 tod
