I had a chance to get out in the shop for a few hours during nap time today and then after bedtime this evening and turned a couple of small dogwood pieces from a tree that had died in my yard. I had cut it down months ago and didn't think much of it since it was so small. I need to make a few ornaments for a friend who wants them for Christmas presents and once I got into the rest of it, I just couldn't pass up the piece with the inclusion.
Dogwood/Ebony Ornament
6 1/2" long x 2" diameter
Clear Gloss Laquer
Dogwood Vase
6 1/2" tall x 3 1/2" diameter
BLO/MS/VAR mix and buffed

Those are some mighty fine turn'ins Raymond. I need to figure out how to turn some ornaments because I would like make some for the grandkids. Nice job.

Items made from Dogwood with a Christian theme are great gifts.
A card included with the Legend of the Dogwood adds.
I sell Dogwood blanks for pens and I make pens from it. All I make have cross clips and, I'm pretty certain, the pens made from the wood I sell also are done with crosses. Dogwood trees, while not scarce, are seldom cut down because they are so pretty. That makes the wood kinda rare for makin' stuff.
