Well I did it. I splurged & bought a TS 75 for myself. Probably
overkill for me,but handling plywood on my table saw with
the limited room I have was killin me.
The question I have is regaurding the soft start. When I
first engage the saw switch it almost sounds as if the saw
is struggling to get started. Almost like a electric motor that
doesnt have enough amps to get it started. Its seems to
work O/K but it just doesnt sound smooth when at full
speed. Is this normal for this saw?

Mine winds up slowly too but sounds smooth when running at speed-much smoother than a makita cs to me anyway but its probably the high number of teeth on the blade. Are you sure you have it set on full speed (they are variable speed IIRC)?

Rick,

Festool saws are electronically speed controlled. What you are hearing is normal.

One thing about the TS75 though, it may be overkill for plywood only. Certainly a nice saw, the the TS55 is targeted for sheet goods work.

I've used my TS55 for cutting a lot of 2X material. I'm happy with it, but it would be nice to have the TS 75's extra "overhead" for the bigger stuff.

Dan.

Ditto on Dan's reply I have an older ATF55. The older saws make the same sound.

Thanks guys, I definetly didn't what to have to go thru the
hassle of warranty repairs.
As far as picking the 75 over the 55......I was really torn,
but in the past I seem to always pick the less expensive, less
powerful tool. Then I'm dissapointed when I need the extra
guts the more powerful tool has. I'll probably never need it
but for the cost a dinner out, I figure it was worth it.
