Well, I havent gotten much shop time in lately but I finnally started on my table. You may remember this from my last thread:

I tried playing with SKETCHUP, but I am not ready for that learning curve yet. I decided to start with the board and then build the table around it.

Using African mahogany for the dark squares and table, Soft Maple for the white squares and Bloodwood for the trim.

I also played around with finishes, this is a picture of a scap of the Mahogany with Danish finising oil on half. It really pops the grain. I am open to sugesstions on what you guys like to do to finish this type of wood.

I will post more pictures as I go, but with the limited time I get in the shop, it is going to be a long process.
