My 3rd hollow form from a Pear downed during Katrina last year. This one has only a single pith through the center. 7" tall by 8" diameter, buffed Watco finish.

I'm still in awe every time I see one of these pieces...I don't see how you got it to hold together while turning. Beautiful work, Travis. Purdy stuff.

Very nice Travis. Are you doing anything to stabalize the bark on the side of the piece?

Raymond, some thin CA as I was hollowing, then a good soaking of Watco after finishing. The pucker factor was highest on this one when buffing.;)

Travis did you sand the inside? It looks open enough that the inside is readily visible.

If you didn't sand the inside was it scraped or is the finish "off the hollowing tool"? If it's directly off the tool how smooth is the finish? I don't yet have enough time with my hollowing tool to accept the finish it leaves if it's visible or touchable.

thanks

Shazam! Travis that's a keeper. Preserving the bark across the side opening; was that planned before you started turning or a 'design opportunity'. You got a gift.

I want to know how you made the inside so smooth!

Thanks everyone.
Bob, I used a tear drop scraper on my boring bar to finish up the inside. I didn't want to chance knocking off the bark rim, so I didn't sand the inside.
Frank, I knew I would have a void in the side, but the ridges were a "design opportunity". I had to go real easy around them.;)

Travis,

I am just going to start hollow forms. I just bought the Oneway system and will hook it up soon. Do you have any video of you working available on the web or for sale. I am just in awe of your talent and would love to see it being created.

Thanks Travis!

I think you could make some good tool money if you made a video!
