Eucalyptus tree

I'm not usually one to get very excited about the outside of a tree trunk, I usually like the wood inside much better. But I was on vacation in Hawaii and saw this tree and thought it was pretty amazing on the outside. If you live anywhere that this stuff grows you've probably seen it but it was new to me. Also, does anyone know what the tree in the right background is?

I've seen a lot of Euck's but i've never seen one like that.

Background tree could be a Sheoak, has leaves that look like pine needles, but it's a hardwood.
