I am looking for information again.
I am looking for reviews on the Leigh D4R Dovetail jig. Is it an improvement over the D4?

And so this thread does not take a turn into this jig or that jig is better. I am only looking for information on the D4R & it's comparsion to the D4.
I have been using a Leigh D1258 for many years. I have added upgrades to it over the years so it is now the same as a D4. I saw a D4R at Woodcraft this week & was impressed. But do not know if it is worh the upgrade.
Thank You.

Chris

I used both of the jigs at a Woodcraft class on Leigh jigs. The D4R has an advantage in the solidly mahined side stops, at least in my opinion. Once the D4 was properly aligned there disn't seem to be any functional difference. I have the D4, and I see no reason to spend the money to upgrade.

You may want to read this comparison chart (http://www.leighjigs.com/download/Comparison%20Chart-1.pdf) - I think it will help you decide. If you now have it to the level of the D4, it may be worth waiting for the next upgrade.
