The Bow Saw and the Hand Router are tied for first. To give Mike a little time to make Blades, we will start with the Hand router first Next week.
So those interested should start looking for a nice 2 inch thick piece of straight grained wood preferrably Quarter or Rift sawn of your choice and a minimum 3.5 inches wide and 9 inches long to start with. The Tenon router is identical except the length needs to be a minimum of 15 inches long.
Tools needed to start will be a drill press 3/8 inch bit, minimum 2 inch hole saw or expansion bit, 1/8 drill bit and a 1/4 inch chisel.
For the cutting bit a 5/16 allen wrench or an old screwdriver shank will work.
For the tool clamp and the wing nut a piece of 1/4 by 3/4 hot rolled flat iron is required. And a hacksaw and several files to work them to size.
A 1/4 inch tap and die and a good propane type torch are also needed.
Kinda lika scavenger hunt isn't it, but the prize is a tool you will have made.
