I've been busy roughing things out lately and decided to play around on my mini with some dry pieces.
The 1st one is Afzelia burl HF with Ebony collar. 3 3/4" tall by 3 1/2" diameter.

The 2nd one is Amboyna burl HF. It's 2" tall by 3" diameter. Both have Seal-a-cell finish, then buffed.

Travis they are great looking examples of something someone who knows what they are doing can do:eek::eek::D:D That said, I would appreciate a small known object in the picture so I can gauge the size, please.:) I know, I know it says right on the post what size they are. But when my wife walks into the room and I says "HEY YOU, come here and look at these:mad:" I want her to gauge for herself just how small they are. I'll be on the floor getting up bout the time she leaves the room.;)

Real pretty pieces!

Travis those are a couple of beauties. I really like the first one with the collar. Nice work.

Sean, the Seal-a-cell is a wipe on finish from General Finishes. It's available from Woodcraft, Craft Supplies, etc.
Jim, here's a pic of both with an "AA" battery for size reference.;)

Travis,
They look better without the battery, sorry Jim. Very nice work, your shape is classic and outstanding.

As usual Travis you have provided us with more examples of the "perfect form". Great job on both:) :)

I hadn't paid attention to the dimensions in your first post. I sure wasn't expecting them to be that small. They both look gorgeous. The wood, form, finish, and photography are all first-rate.

Travis thanks for the pic with the size ref. That just makes them that much more impressive.

Travis, Beautiful work! What brand of tools do you use or do you use homemade? Thanks!

Thanks everyone.
Martin, for hollowing these, I used a homemade miniature version of the Jamieson system adapted to my Jet mini with a 1/2" curved John Jordan bar.
