What's the deal with Norm, I haven't seen a new show since the first of the year. I have quit watching, nothing but repeats.

He'll be starting his sixteenth season soon. For all fifteen of the past seasons he has presented new programs - thirteen of them - in the early weeks of the year and has presented repeats the other 39 weeks or so. Don't you think it unrealistic that he could produce 52 new projects a year? I enjoy them new or old. But I will admit when HGTV was putting Norm on 7 days a week the repeats did come up a bit often. Anyway, I'm looking forward to Jan, Feb, Mar to see what the projects I've seen on Web Cam from NYW look like in the flesh. Carl

Carl is correct, the new season starts each year in January. The coming season looks quite interesting. Many of us have been watching them tape the shows via the NYW web cam over the summer, too, which brings a different perspective to the whole thing.

Watching repeats of NYW never has bothered me as I always learn something new each time. I will admit there are some of the early shows that I've seen too many times (due to the HGTV rotation) or are for projects that don't interest me (children's stuff, for example) but the learning opportunity is still there!

Those of us in the DC area will finally get to see Norm's 2003 season beginning Oct 25. Our local PBS station pulled Norm this spring and is now finally going to show them at 6:30 am.

Does anyone know how old Norm is? there is a website that states he recently celebrated his 51st anniversary and has two teen age grandchildren. He just doesn't seem that far along in life. I would have guessed his age at around 50.

Hi Dave,

This is the link to the source of my info. I tend to believe his age to be 50 ish instead of 70 ish though.

Gene, I think that's the wrong Norm. HGTV lists a very small bio of him here:

Be well,

Agree...and the "real" Norm doesn't have an "s" at the end of his name!
