If any members have a recently manufactured Mercury could you tell me what laser tube GCC is using? My Mercury is about 5 years old and uses the Synrad 48-2 style tube. At one point my dealer told me that GCC was looking at changing suppliers, and I am interested to know if this actually happened.

What tube does GCC use in the higher power systems?

Mine's only a few weeks old and has a Coherent 40W tube.

Gcc have used Coherent Deos and Synrads , the Coherent tubes are incredibly unreliable , we went thru at least 12 on our explorers (3) in about 2-3 yrs , often not getting more than 3 months life.
The Synrads we used in our mercuries and the Synrads in our spirits seem a LOT better albeit the beam quality and apparent power of the Coherents are better. Synrad have been bought by Coherent , so Im not sure what the imp-lications of that will be.

Mecury 12w and 25w tubes are synrad tubes (48 Series), the Mercury 40w and higher were Coherent Deos's. As of a couple of months ago GCC stopped making 60w+ models of the Mercury lasers. They still offer Explorer's with the higher wattages.
