I was in Lowes a few weeks ago looking at the CMS's. I never owned one (always used a manual miter box) and I saw this one with a yellow clearance sticker on the display model:

http://www.amazon.com/Hitachi-C12LCH...4?ie=UTF8&s=hi (http://www.amazon.com/Hitachi-C12LCH-12-Inch-Compound-Digital/dp/B0002X7VLQ/sr=8-5/qid=1158250424/ref=pd_bbs_5/103-6210224-6066214?ie=UTF8&s=hi)

The sticker said clearance $250.00.

Hemmed and hawed for a while, wondering how I was going to explain it to LOML. Finally said the heck with it, grabbed a new one in the box and headed to the cash register. The box was not marked with a price. When they scanned it in, it scanned at $164.00. So I am thinking, I won't have to eat hot dogs the rest of the week.

The following day, I told a fellow woodworker about the deal I got. He went to the store and couldn’t find one so he asked the manager to do a stock check on the model #. There were none in stock, but he told me the price had been changed to - get this $54.00.

I went to the store with my receipt, told the manager to recheck the price, and sure enough it came up $54.00. She cheerfully gave me a refund.

Edit in: The saw came with a 24 tooth rough cut blade so I purchased an 80 tooth fine crosscut blade for $60.00. The blade cost me more than the saw. :D:D:D

Thanks. It cuts real good for a 54 dollar saw. BTW I also picked up one of these on clearance for $120:

Seems like Lowes is cutting back some of the Hitachi line.

You have to be kidding me....$54!!!
No way

I just checked with Lowes and they told me the price on their computer is $219....

Was it in the way you asked? Any trick I should know??

I checked my local lowe's, and it is 219 here as well. They need to hit that $60 mark so I can get a new miter saw.

Sounds like you got a sweet deal.

I went in to Lowes on Thursday, they had the Bosch reciprocating saw marked down to $75.00 from $98.00. I had a $10 project starter card I got in the mail last week, so I fugured what the heck, $65.00 is a good price. I bought one. I went back into lowes today, they had a markdown table with lots of tools, and a guy standing there marking them down to ridiculus prices. He marked the last Bosch saw down to $30.00 and handed to another customer. I asked the lowes guy what the deal was. He said they did not sell at $75, but went like hotcakes at 30.00.

I'm was kind of ticked off, but I guess I still got a good deal! Maybe I'll go back tomorrow and see if they will give me 30.00 bucks back!!!

I did however get a B&D 24 volt cordless drill for $20.00! Not a big fan of B&D but for 20.00, what the heck!

For some reason the Lowes by me does some pretty funky things with prices. Like I said, When I first saw the display, it said $250, but when I checked out, the price in the computer was $164, and the next day someone had changed it to $54. This is not the first time something like this has happed at this store. Maybe poor management?

Anyway, will try to upload a few PIX:
