Just put the final finish on a set of chess pieces, the day before the buyer is to pick them up. Made of Mesquite and Curly Maple as is the box.

Love it. You did a great job. I see you turned most of them but how did you do the horse?

Thanks. I turned the base leaving the upper portion square. I (my wife) then rough cut the shape on the bandsaw. I carved the horse freehand to shape using chisels, files and Dremel. It took about an hour to carve and about 0.5 hrs to sand and finish.

Thanks fors the compliments.
I used Deft lacquor for the finish (about a million coats). I'll post a closeup of the knight tonite when I get home.

Another great job. I sure wish you would do a show and tell at your Wood Turner club Meetings. Gilbert does not like to speak to people one, He say he is not agood speeker but he really is he just will not belive it.

Gilbert, those chess pieces are outstanding! The carving, especially on the knight is incredibly well executed!
